Oregon Field Guide: Ice Climbing - Part 1 on YouTube.com
The first of a two-part movie first broadcast on PBS a few years ago. Oregon Field Guide worked with myself (Alex Krawarik) and Jason Martin to do a 15-minute special on ice climbing. Originally, they had tried to do a special on ice climbing in Oregon, but after several years of no footage, settled for something in Washington state. The year we filmed this was pretty poor for ice in general, but we planned for that eventuality by choosing Strobach, as there are always a few of the easier routes in at Strobach. So it worked out. Well-edited and really gives you a flavor for the area!
Oregon Field Guide: Ice Climbing - Part 2 on YouTube.com
We continue where the first video left off, halfway up Sad Ce'bu and Sudden Change of Plan at Strobach. Climbers are Alex Krawarik, Gene Pires (then still guiding for Alpine Ascents), Jason Martin (who is a guide for American Alpine Institute) and Mark Allen (also a professional guide). Fun trip overall, gives you a good introduction to Strobach ice climbing.
